US Highway 1

Do you realize, that an hour-long discourse on the history of US Highway 1 - from it's northernmost origin in Fort Kent, Maine to it's southernmost terminus in Key West, Florida (and all the points of interest along the way) - is not substantially different from an hour-long discourse on the history of enlightenment - from first learning about it as a concept to it's hoped-for, even longed-for, even imagined, ending point of success (and all the points of interest along the way)?

If you say there are substantial, "meaningful", differences, between talking about a friggin' Interstate Highway, and something so spiritual as Enlightenment, then you may not have even begun to find out what's going on - with talking and thinking and writing about stuff, whether it be the ordinarily mundane, or the extraordinarily mystical.

None of this mysticism stuff - recognizing or getting or keeping enlightenment - is about the study of recognition, attainment, or enlightenment, i.e., the "thing studied", it is about the study of the thing doing the studying; and until you catch a hook in the mouth of that fast swimming oyster, the pearl of great price may forever elude you.

NEW INFORMATION

People absolutely DO NOT LIKE TO HEAR NEW INFORMATION. This has nothing to do with programming or education, but genetics, and biochemistry. That's why people settle so easily into habits - which in themselves are not bad at all, even for neural explorers, and definitely do not need to be altered/changed/modified/stopped -unlike those teachings that would claim otherwise.

Habits are necessary to the overall functioning of the organism - individual organisms, and Life itself. Start breathing other-than-air and see what happens, or start eating nothing at all, or dirt, and see what happens. Start thinking new information (not the phony new, the so-called new, but the REALLY NEW), and the mind will instantly shut it out in one of two ways - either it won't hear it at all, or will immediately dismiss/discount it and forget about it entirely.

The real revolutionary explorer into regions heretofore unknown (we're talking about the mind here, we're talking the outermost reaches of your Life-given nervous system here), must engage in a global battle with themselves alone, must confront the habitual in a precisely unique and specific way, having to do with the inner posture one has toward themselves. If a person has/takes the posture that "they are all screwed up as they are" and "they need to be fixed" (and this all comes from programming and environment -including religions, philosophies, psychologies, teachings), then (sorry, charlie) they are lost. One must acquire (and it is NOT Life-given, though DNA contains the capacity for such objective viewing - think of it as turning on dormant genes) an inner posture of absolute, and TOTAL acceptance of everything - inner, outer, and all around - in an attempt to be able to sidestep all oncoming advances from "out there" (which is a very variable and changing phenomenon of course), seeking to alter your inner posture - to knock you over as it were, to "bring you down", back into the ordinary, pre-journey world.

"A person who sets out on a journey to a place he's never been (Enlightened), and knows nothing about already (and no one is born knowing anything about this), brings nothing along with him - not even his books, and memories of reading them. He goes naked into the journey, and can only pick up bits and pieces along the way. (How they got there, can only be known by him.) There is no logic out there, and he can not organize those bits the way he did before setting out. (If that happens it becomes part of the pre-journey world only.) However, he must store them in any case, and be able to retrieve them instantly, if not even before that."

One should consider themselves, virtually if not absolutely, completely in the pre-journey world, that is, ordinarily awake, NOT extraordinarily awake, and then his TASK, if he chooses to accept it, is to invent and traverse a Mystical Map to a New Universe of His Own Making.

Then, wouldn't you know it, the TASK becomes, how to enliven the map.... as they absolutely will die on the vine, unless quickened.

ride the Wind......

Go to any large bookstore - check out all the shelves that have >>anything<< to do with "self-improvement", including religion, philosophy, spirituality, etc. Why are there so many, many titles in each and every category. If one of them actually TOLD the truth (and the Whole Truth), what need would there be for others?

If the 4thway books - or Buddhist books, or Christian books - actually had the information any individual needed to become a Fully Conscious and Enlightened Being - not, let us say, unlike, Gurdjieff, Buddha, Jesus - and someone read them, got supremely enlightened, and told literally everyone, and more and more found out and did likewise, well, what further need would there be for the Buddhist/Christian/X-istian books? NONE! Nada. No further need.

So the only conclusion that can be allowed, is that the truth is not out there in books - entertainment, yes, nothing more. Period. And then, the revolutionary next effort, which almost NO ONE can do, would be to stop thinking about that, further. Stop thinking/considering whether or not you previously understood something fully. If you finally learn how to ride a bike, you never ever again think about how, or whether you still know how, blah, blah, blah. NO! Never. No further need. You get on that bike, and ride the Wind......

Do androids dream they are human?

Just because a person can ask a question of themselves, and provide an almost immediate angle of thought, point of view, or chapter and verse - a mini essay of sorts - all from memory - does not mean that person understands what he is talking about, or that it has any relevance at all the original question.

One only has to look to oneself to see the truth of this.

If you want to know how an android is programmed, this is how. Input the language - any will do - organize by chapter and verse - with line numbers and indices - then, for every supposed question/problem you want the android to process, reach into it's head and pull out various meaningful sentences, all wrapped up into a "program", or "essay", and then send it to the output centers of the android.

However, present the android with something it has never considered before, and it becomes locked in a feedback loop. And, of course, the biggee which always starts the meltdown, is how can an android locked in a feedback loop escape itself when outside it's dynamic it doesn't exist?

What's going on, with the android - let's call him Fred Jr. - is that he was programmed by super-programmer Fred Sr. who was so clever and expert at his job, that Fred Jr. actually thinks he is all that Fred Sr. is - hell, he could even program a little Fred III if he was so inclined.

BUT.

Who are we talking about here? Fred Sr. or Fred Jr? How can Fred Jr. be taken even >>a little bit<< seriously, when discussing the States of Mind of Fred Sr? How about the Three Centers of Functioning of Fred Sr? Or, the Four Bodies of Fred Sr?

4d consciousness

Just as solids extend into a greater 4d solid and higher, consciousness extends into a greater 4d consciousness and higher. Easy to say, virtually impossible to comprehend - just too many variables of unknown property. But, still, comprehension - or better, apperception - is possible.

New Information

Not everyone wants new information - people are not wired up to even be able to recognize it. Once they have some books, some "association" with other "similarly-persuaded" people, and a few months/years invested in the jargon/doctrine, it becomes nigh on to impossible - rigid doesn't begin to cover it. They believe, that as they "progress", they will become MORE open-minded, MORE awake, MORE able to hear others, and think objectively, but experience always shows just the opposite - the old are not wiser, just much older, and much more tired. And, if someone enters their little "group", and dares offer some competing ideas and viewpoints, they are immediately hassled, dumped on, and expelled.

What do you think all this, "trying to wake up" is really about?? Waking up? Being conscious of your toes, knees and elbows all day? Composing ever longer, ever more frequent theories about your current theories? You don't even know WHY you want to do it - you say you do, you think and believe you do, but you don't even know WHY you, and not someone else. Your theories about that are completely subjective, and impotent.

All ways to enlightenment can be categorized as either direct or indirect ways. Direct ways are very rare and require a conscious, enlightened individual to direct those who are interested in learning and experiencing more, for the primary purpose of change of being. Indirect ways are very common and consist only of interested individuals engaged primarily in the discussion about enlightenment, for the primary purpose of feeling good about their association and participation.

If you are involved with an indirect way - or have no direct connection to someone who is more advanced than you - then you are treading water. Your view of the shore may occasionally change, but you're going nowhere, and will never see what's over the horizon. That's the fear, and the terror of the situation - to spend a lifetime believing you're on this "spiritual quest", only to discover you're deluded - and it effectively blocks the receipt of anything New.

What if there was New Information about Waking up, new maps, new viewpoints, that you'd never heard of? What if the bibles you study - written decades/centuries ago - were so out of date, as to be all but useless? How could you ever know this? Think about that. HOW?? Having your bibles, and reading and talking about them, only reinforces the belief that they are the all and everything - and there's nothing more needed. So, what's it going to take to insert a New Thought into your system, that CAN question that belief?

Clue: You've got to hear about it from someone, someone alive - not some dusty old book you found in the library - someone alive, kickin' and willing to tell you.

Groups and Teachers

Group work without a teacher, is fun at times, interesting at others, but just a hobby - the blind leading the blind.

Group work with a teacher, is fun at times, interesting at others, but also, just a hobby, until a person has a direct, personal relationship with someone from whom he can learn, someone who can teach him. At that point, he may have to leave, or he may have to stay - but, he can't know either way until he knows.

Some people require years to become such a person - one who can recognize, in reality, another he can learn from, and someone who can teach him what he needs to know. Some never get to that point, though they may remain "connected" to the "organization" for many years, ultimately achieving nothing.

When a person can, almost impartially hear what another is saying, and understand, almost objectively, what he is doing, he can learn from him. How long a person stays in physical proximity to such a person, is very variable - depending on the people involved. There probably can't be categorical statements about whether or not a person should find a group, join a group, cozy up to a teacher, and stay for a lifetime. There are cases when a person was ready to meet an extraordinary person, who could teach him by words and deeds, more in months, than most ever get in a lifetime. This is not a theory.

What a person needs, to increase his ordinary slow pace of living, and start learning from just breathing, and just being alive on Earth, amongst other people, is Information which is not in the common trough where other people are rooting around for such. That trough includes religions, philosophies, psychologies, systems of all kinds, science, and mysticism, etc. Call it A or B influences, it doesn't matter. That common information which is "freely" available in libraries and bookstores, is too common and too readily dismissed even by supposedly otherwise ready individuals to do them any real good. You might "believe" that people associated with "recognized" groups studying the "authorized" texts and led by "self-styled" teachers, are a cut above the normal folks who are not so associated, but that's incorrect. They're not. They are identical to everybody else.

Even the Fourth Way has become so controversial, amongst the 10's of 1000's of people calling themselves "followers/studiers/students", and joining groups, email lists, study groups, that the maps and tools are almost empty in nutritional content - as energy, it's just too slow, to be effective - like, it has bounced off too many heads by the time it gets to you. Most groups spend most of their time in trivialities - having descended into arguments, discussions, debates, about the organization, as well as the ideas (what they mean, where they came from, how to implement them) and so, no one achieves the instant, almost immediate Realization of the deeper meanings of the information. Some people actually believe, that it requires decades to understand things. That's untrue. It's takes as long as it takes based upon the potency of the Information, and the capacity of the receiver. Better information can sometimes be instantly realized as True and Correct (for all intents and purposes), while lesser information will many times never be verified at all. This is not a theory.

For example: self remembering, and self observation. These are interesting restatements of ideas which have been around for centuries, further clarified today, >>because they had to be<< to be continuingly effective. Realize this: "Count your breaths", or "Watch your hands", or "Say the name of God over and over", is just as good a method, as S-R, but they don't work the way they once may have. There is a reason for this, and it's the same as why, "Don't worry, Be happy" doesn't work. People are too astute today, their intellects too complex and sophisticated, to be pulled into such simplistic statements, once they've Realized there's truly a Mystery, and they've only just touched it.

That is, a person can know he is on the virge of touching the Real, but only when he realizes that there is available NO SUCH INFORMATION for what he wants and needs. Not, that he hasn't found it yet; not, that he needs to go to the East or Middle East or Near East, or Philadelphia, or some silly bookstore, to find it. It's not available, EXCEPT inside the head(s) of some person(s) alive today, he either hasn't met yet, or wants to. At that point, armed with the firm Realization, that the Information he needs to do what he wants and needs, does not exist "out-there" in bookstores nor libraries, but only inside the head(s) of some, probably very few, people, who probably aren't advertising it in any grandiose way, he can start to move from where he is - the past - toward the Future - which is Real.

---------------------------------
ps- believe it or don't believe it - you can't verify it either way - there are people alive today living in the state of consciousness proper for Men of the Future. How FAR in the future is unknown, but definitely in the future.

pps- as if you haven't already intuited it yet... The Real Potent Information of which I am referring, exists there - in the Future, not "here" and "now", in the virtual past.
